Hello and welcome to Hail Satan Records.

Hello and welcome to Hail Satan Records. We are just a bunch of guys and girls who love collecting records. Hail Satan has finally come through with an agenda that doesn't reflect it's name. We are not against any religion or beliefs, we don't really care about such things.
We find it a necessity to provide the audience here an alternative channel to turn on to.

This stance could be seen in the eclectic selection available via our music distribution. Although it is not much, but we hope to someday grow and have our own physical store. We do have plans in releasing music on vinyl that we like too.

Hail Satan's range doesn't just end on the aural spectrum. Being visual art practitioners ourselves, We extend as a visual engine providing promotional and merchandising solutions for artistes.

What makes us rather endearing (albeit potentially incursive to some) is our conviction to good art and the best practices that compliment it. Rather idealistic one might add, but it is something that is sorely missed in an environment as sterile as ours.

We haven't really set up a proper website or a shopping cart to make your purchases more convenient but we hope this will do for now. All records, art, prints and merchandise posted in this blog is for sale while stocks are available. We will also try to re-stock whatever that is sold out or not available at the moment and we will also try our best to get whatever you guys are listening to or want to listen to more regularly.

Do 'LIKE' our Facebook page and follow us on Instagram (@hailsatan_records) for latest updates. Okay that is it for now. If you have any questions for us or just want to chat us up,
drop us an email at hailsatanrecords@gmail.com  or leave a message on our Facebook page.

Thank You for your time.

Godspeed You Black Emperor! – Allelujah! Don't Bend! Ascend! (LP+7")

Godspeed You Black Emperor! – Allelujah! Don't Bend! Ascend! (LP+7")

Around the turn of the millennium, Godspeed You! Black Emperor were the right band at the right time. They arrived with their debut album, F#A#∞, in 1997, when the speed of technology was accelerating, genres were being shuffled, and people were thinking about where music might go. Godspeed, a loose and mysterious collective from Canada (guitarist Efrim Menuck seemed like the leader, but they preferred to be received as a unit) with an anarchist political bent who fused Ennio Morricone, minimalism, found sound, and metal-inflected noise, presented one intriguing possibility. 'Allelujah! Don't Bend! Ascend! is the fourth studio album by Canadian post-rock band Godspeed You! Black Emperor, released in 2012. After re-forming in 2010, the group went on tour and silently released the album at a concert inBoston on 1 October 2012, with official release dates on 15 October in Europe and the following day in other countries. The album has received positive reviews and has been heralded as a comeback for the collective.

Neurosis – Honor Found in Decay (2xLP)

Neurosis – Honor Found in Decay (2xLP)

"Our legacy can only be assured if we continually burn down the past and plant seeds in the ashes," proclaims Neurosis guitarist-vocalist Steve Von Till in a trailer for the band's latest album, Honor Found in Decay. It's got a nice ring to it, but might not be the best description of the veteran Oakland group's M.O. Sure, Neurosis' work has evolved over the course of a 27-year career-- from the gritty metallic punk of 1987's Pain of Mind to the harrowing post-hardcore prog of 1993's Enemy of the Sun and on to the majestic art doom of their current phase-- but the progression has been gradual, a series of seasonal shifts rather than fiery upheavals. That unhurried pace has helped make the band into a redwood of the underground, a model for Mastodon, Isis, and countless other crews of metal-oriented aesthetes.

Mogwai – Les Revenants (10" EP Ltd Ed)

Mogwai – Les Revenants (10" EP Ltd Ed)

Composing a soundtrack might be the biggest accomplishment for a post-rock band, a genre defined by its ability to create an atmosphere, to craft a mood, to tell stories with sounds and nothing more. Scottish post-rockers Mogwai have had some experience in this field before with their 2006's Zidane, and now they follow up their EP of the same name with the full length Les Revenants, the complete soundtrack to the French zombie drama. For Mogwai in particular to be behind the soundtrack for this television program is only icing on the cake. Imagine the Walking Dead, now imagine if Mogwai had scored it. Of course, the album is completely listenable beyond its associations with the program. This is no nine disc box set to a fantasy opus with every incidental sound recorded - this is music, this is Mogwai's music. It is classic Mogwai in many ways, yet it does show signs of growth, or perhaps an ability to shape their natural talents based on subject matter.

Mogwai ‎– A Wrenched Virile Lore (2xLP)

Mogwai ‎– A Wrenched Virile Lore (2xLP)

Like their previous offerings 'Hardcore Will Never Die But You Will"A Wrenched Virile Lore features 10 tracks, though it only references eight of the originals. However, even the mixes that draw from the same songs are different enough in approach and sequenced in such a way that the reappearances feel like purposeful reprises: Klad Hest's drum and bass-rattled redux of "Rano Pano" finds its sobering aftershock in Tim Hecker's haunted and damaged revision, while Cylob's cloying synth-pop take on Hardcore's opener "White Noise"-- which fills in the original's instrumental melody with lyrics sung through a vocoder-- is redeemed by UK composer Robert Hampson's 13-minute soft-focus dissolve of the same track. Renamed "La Mort Blanche", its appearance provides both a full-circle completion of this record (by book-ending it with mixes by former Godflesh members) while serving as a re-entry point back into Hardcore by reintroducing the source song's main motifs and widescreen vantage. But more than just inspire a renewed appreciation forHardcoreA Wrenched Virile Lore potentially provides Mogwai with new avenues to explore now that they're well into their second decade, and perhaps instill a greater confidence in the idea that their identity can remain intact even in the absence of their usual skull-crushing squall. This record kicks-off with probably one of the best ( Mogwai remixes we've heard in years ) by Justin K Broadrick (Jesu, Godflesh) and the whole album itself is a must have for all.

Kavinsky – Nightcall (Vinyl 12")

Kavinsky – Nightcall (Vinyl 12")

Kavinsky’s production scheme is that of 80’s electro pop; opulent and massive. He records most of his material on a Yamaha DX7. There’s a myriad of French electro-house producers out there but Kavinsky stands out from the pack with his nostalgia laced jams and his fresh songwriting that doesn’t rely too heavily on bass or redundant drops. This is Kavinsky’s 3rd album; his first two went relatively unnoticed by critics and fans alike, making this release a smart one due to it being better than his previous albums. He gets a bit redundant at times, but that proves to be a small issue rather than a big one.

The main highlight of the album isn’t the title track. Surprisingly, its film feature doesn’t make it the best track on the LP. Instead, in my opinion, the highlight of the LP is “Pacific Coast Highway”. The title track makes the listener feel a brush of confidence while this one is total badass-ery. Samples from what would appear to be a cop show of sorts, this track makes the listener put the pedal to the metal and bump so even the deaf, senile elderly folk of the neighborhood can hear it. This track dances through the ears with 80’s electro swagger, leaving the listener feeling the need for speed.

Local Natives – Hummingbird (Deluxe Edition) (LP) (Blood Red Vinyl)

Comes with a digital download code! Deluxe edition includes a poster and three bonus b-sides on the download card. It also comes on a dark red vinyl! Much has happened between the band's critically-acclaimed album Gorilla Manor and the imminent release of Hummingbird. From rave reviews to brilliant television performances, Gorilla Manor launched the band onto the global stage, saw them headlining theaters throughout America and Europe, opening for bands like Arcade Fire and The National, and winning them lauded slots at major festivals around the world. Upon their return home from the road, the band built out a rehearsal space and studio in an abandoned bungalow in Silverlake, allowing them to write and experiment extensively with new sounds and arrangements. The band says Hummingbird was created from the emotional framework of being stretched between two opposite poles. In the two years following Gorilla Manor's release, the band saw the highest highs and the lowest lows they had ever experienced together. While many of their wildest musical ambitions were coming to fruition, personal relationships faltered or fell apart, and a close family member suddenly passed away.

Local Natives – Hummingbird (LP)

Local Natives – Hummingbird (LP)

While the songwriting was strong, you had to wonder if the band would prove to be more than the sum of their influences. Hummingbird, Local Natives' second album, offers a tricky answer to that question. They're still on the same path-- no fashionable synths or newfound fixation with 1990s R&B here-- but innovation seems beside the point. This is a record of lateral growth, one that finds the band establishing their own place among their contemporaries. Ironically, they've found their sound with the assistance of one of their major forebears: the National's Aaron Dessner performs and contributes songwriting on Hummingbird, and shares production credit with the band while recording with them in his Brooklyn studio. (His brother and bandmate, Bryce, contributed horn arrangements to several songs, too.)

Local Natives – Gorilla Manor (LP)

Local Natives – Gorilla Manor (LP)

Gorilla Manor, the debut album from L.A.'s Local Natives, features rustic and yearning vocals, three-part harmonies, clattering percussion, wiggly guitar leads, euphoric chanting, and a Talking Heads cover. In short, the Silver Lake quintet have followed indie rock's major players in recent years-- they knew how to dress for success in 2010. Great for them-- now, what's in it for you? Plenty as it turns out.

Youth Lagoon – The Year of Hibernation (LP)

Youth Lagoon – The Year of Hibernation (LP)

There are a few things we've come to expect from recent, home-recorded indie pop: thin production, lyrics that reference childhood and nostalgia, a vibe of hushed intimacy, lots of reverb. Youth Lagoon, the project of 22-year-old Boise, Idaho, musician Trevor Powers, ticks all of those boxes and sounds immediately familiar the first time you put it on. "Posters", the opening track on his debut LP, The Year of Hibernation, even starts with a warbly synth to evoke the fabled VHS glow that has become a touchstone for kids of his generation. When you hear so much of this stuff, it starts to bleed together-- almost as if by design-- and you start to wonder what it would take for an artist in this realm to stand out. Powers has a few ideas.

Twin Shadow – Confess (LP)

Twin Shadow – Confess (LP)

Confess, Lewis’s second LP under the Twin Shadow moniker, owes its existence to early morning motorcycle rides in Los Angeles, which helped the Dominican-born songwriter to reach some nirvana-like state. The album contains, at points, hints of such furious energy as translated into unabashedly eighties-influenced pop. It’s the same translation from energy to music that Bruce Springsteen engages in, if the boss had had a musical aesthetic that was more along the lines The Police or Flock of Seagulls.

Sleep – Dopesmoker (Reissue) (2xLP) (Purple Vinyl)

This past Spring, Southern Lord Recordings unleashed a deluxe reissue of SLEEP’s mammoth Dopesmoker LP on which the original studio tapes were completely remastered presenting the legendary album as the band had initially intended. The audio is clearer, louder, and offers up a true representation of SLEEP’s hour-plus long Weedian chronicle. It even features brand new artwork by longtime SLEEP artist Arik Roper as well as an unreleased live recording of one of the band’s all-time best performances, “Holy Mountain” from San Francisco’s I-Beam in 1994.The first vinyl pressing of Dopesmoker, which accounted for 8,000 copies, sold out in little more than two months! Due to overwhelming demand, Southern Lord is repressing the vinyl edition for those glassy-eyed souls who missed it the first time around. Like the holographic foil jackets that were provided for a portion of the first pressing, the second pressing will include a metallic silver foil jacket. It is of course a heavy-weight cardboard tip-on style Stoughton jacket and they look stunning! 180-gram blue vinyl with metallic silver foil jacket will be limited to 1,000 copies. 180-gram purple vinyl will be limited to 4,000 copies.

Converge – All We Love We Leave Behind (Ltd Ed) (yellow)

Converge – All We Love We Leave Behind (Ltd Ed) (yellow vinyl)

The record is the logical followup to 2009's Axe to Fall, my favorite record that year. Axeincluded a large supporting cast of friends and fellow travelers from Cave In, Disfear, Genghis Tron, the Red Chord, and Neurosis. It ended with a seven-minute song that seemed to include them all. When I spoke with Converge frontman Jacob Bannon a few weeks ago about AWLWLB, he said Axe to Fall had been the "collaborative concept taken to the extreme." This time, it's just the band and the watchful ear of Ballou. As Bannon put it, "There's no artificial distortion, triggers, or Auto-Tune on this album. It's all organic, it's real sounds that capture the way the band performs live."
From opener (and first single) "Aimless Arrow" onward, the music here is mostly fast, compact, and coiled. That's Converge in general, but they've distilled the elements to even tauter extremes this time. The technical mastery is mind-blowing, as is the way they manage to squeeze in brutal melodies and hooks. The vocal lines seem to be woven into the guitars, to which they've also added a bluesier feel, a detail that reminds me of the classic post-Negative Approach Touch and Go band Laughing Hyenas-- or even the Jesus Lizard. It's a streamlined, live-sounding collection that can feel like one giant kick to the head. But they know when to give, take, and plop in a slow-grind blues riff. Tracks overlap and echo. When they slow things down to a momentary crawl with the album's longest song, the five-minute doom ballad "Coral Blue", it's like a chair's been pulled out from behind you. You get that in the middle of the two-minute "Empty on the Inside" as well as the instrumental "Precipice", an interstitial piece with piano, clean guitars, psychedelic soloing guitars, and deep-factory/chain-gang percussion. "All We Love We Leave Behind" picks all of that up gorgeously.

Built to Spill – Keep It Like A Secret (Reissue) (2xLP)

Built to Spill – Keep It Like A Secret (Reissue) (2xLP)

Perhaps realizing that their time on a major label was likely limited, Built to Spill made a gutsy choice for Keep It Like a Secret, their second album for Warner Brothers. They embraced the sounds of a big studio and focused their sound without sacrificing their fractured indie-rock aesthetic. In a sense, this is Built to Spill's pop album: every song is direct and clean, without the long, cerebral jamming that characterized their earlier albums. That's not to say that the album is compromised -- the songwriting may be streamlined, but Doug Martsch now packs all of his twists, turns and detours into dense, three-minute blasts. This approach, combined with the shiny sonic textures, makes Keep It Like a Secretthe most immediate and, yes, accessible Built to Spill record, but they steadfastly open their music and breathe up the way, say, Pavement did on Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain or Brighten the Corners. Built to Spill still demand that listeners meet them on their own terms -- these just happen to be the easiest terms to understand in their catalog.
